“Douăsprezece Versuri” is the result of a pair of experiments - one musical, and one personal. It is an exploration of tonal twelve-tone serialism and abstract piano writing, but it is also a poem about my struggle to connect with a culture and language that I was never immersed in. Each miniature represents a different facet of my tenuous relationship with Romania and Romanian.
