“Séance of the Doves” is a dialogue between Zenaida macroura, the mourning dove, and its extinct relative Ectopistes migratorius - also known as the passenger pigeon. Voiced by four clarinets, the two birds chatter and call to one another, separated by musical and temporal barriers that neither of them can cross.
